Bethany McLean
Flute & Beginner Piano
Ms. Bethany McLean is a freelance flutist and educator based in the Western NY region. She is on the substitute musician list of a number of orchestras across the US, including the Erie Philharmonic, Billings Symphony, Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, and the Atlanta Ballet, where she was hired as the first call replacement for the flute section after being named runner up in their second flute audition in August, 2024.
Bethany received her Masters of Music Degree in classical flute performance from Manhattan School of Music, and her Bachelors of Music Degree in flute performance from Ithaca College.
Bethany cherishes the opportunity to grow her students’ love of music. In her flute and piano lessons, she stresses the importance of building strong fundamentals while giving students the freedom to explore their own musical interests. She has extensive experience both as a student and teacher within the NYSSMA system, having performed in All-County and Area All-State ensembles as a student, and regularly having students score well at solofest.
